Tips for selecting the perfect source image

Simplify the image

Use a smartphone or a good camera. If you can, use the best quality and largest version of the photo you have.

Wherever your pet is, that's the setting. Trying to create a fake stage can distract from your pet. Just accept them as they are.

Keep it natural

Use natural daylight or bright room lighting for photos. Make sure the face and neck are fully visible with no dark shadows or patches of light. Get down to the pet's level when taking the photo. Avoid heavily filtered photos to capture their true colors accurately.

Use indirect lighting and avoid using flash.

Be genuine

Trust and observe your pet discreetly. Notice their expressions and actions. Respect them as individuals, not objects.

Keep in mind that in the final portrait, collars, leashes, bows, hats, or any clothing may be included if they enhance, no detract from, from your pet's personality.
